Spinning is the love of my life!
As I began to spin, I became very interested in the many different breeds of sheep wool available. Everyone talked about Romney, Corriedale, Border Leicester, and even Merino. I tried them all because they were readily available. I soon realized that there were many, many more breeds out there that I had never heard about. I also did not have any idea which wools were best for my projects.

Many wools are only available from the breeders who want to sell the whole fleece. This could mean buying 4 to 10 lbs of fleece that you may or may not like. You could get lots of money tied up in Fleeces and never get all this wool washed and spun. What to do?

The idea of a fleece exchange within our guild was started. Everyone exchanging fleece that they raised or had on hand, even ordering a few new fleeces from other sources. This can be fun but it didn't go far enough for me.

I began to order other fleeces and put together a fleece study with research information and sources for many more breeds.

This Fleece Study is now available for you or your guild. It now contains over 40 different breeds, including at least 15 rare or endangered breeds.

Why not have a fleece study within your guild?

Just E-mail me and I would be happy to work with you & your guild and add you to my scheadule.

Check out Chris's Blog - Knitting with Fire  She and several ladies in Buffalo, NY are working with my fleece study.  As she said on her blog: "I'm posting my process here as a resource to the group and anyone else who may find it helpful."
